Listen to your own gut feelings

I just had a bit of what I call a confrontation with my neighbor. No war-just a difference of opinions. He’s been bugging me to let my puppy out to play with his dogs. I have said no. Not yet.

I trust my vet and my own gut feelings. My pup’s been on antibiotics from a bacterial infection she got from who knows where. My vet said no socializing until she’s done with the antibiotics, and also has her next shots.
I’ve been going to the same vet for twenty years, so I agree.

My neighbor said “I’ve had dogs all my life and I don’t think you have to do that.” He actually said quite a bit more than that.

Well, I said “that is what I am doing “, and I went into the house.

Took me about five minutes to feel offended and hurt by his attitude. I went back out and rather interrupted his conversation with my husband.

I said, “You know, I may not agree with some things you do with your dogs, but I respect your right to make those decisions. Personally I think dogs should be spade (for female dogs it keeps about 90% chance of having cancer down).

I also think taking the dogs to the lake is not a bath. The lake has bacteria and isn’t that clean. I think you should rinse them off after. But I don’t try to talk you into changing what you think is right for your dogs.”

He kind of look surprised. Then I finished it off with “…and I am not changing my religion or personal philosophy either because someone doesn’t agree with my thoughts and I won’t be ridiculed without standing up for myself.”

He didn’t like me saying those things, but you know just because I am a woman doesn’t mean I have to take crap. Nor does it mean I won’t listen to my own gut feelings and act on them. I will. My husband is always surprised by the things I say and do, but he loves me and stands behind me one hundred percent.

YOU DO THE SAME TOO. The gut feelings you get, those first thoughts, they are usually absolutely right! Don’t be a wimp and cave into someone else just because you can’t find your courage. Find it and use it!

Have a beautiful day. Gosh I feel better!
