WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THIS?

Tomorrow Nasa is sending a missile to the moon to blow the inside of a crater to “smitherine’s”. They are trying to find out if the moon has water to provide for life as we know it. I have two questions:

1. WHO authorized these guys to do this to our moon??? That’s like me blowing up something that belongs to all humans. We have no idea if this may begin a cycle of catastrophic events or not….

2. WHAT IF there are life forms (and this is the most important) that are alien – imperceptible to our vision and knowledge-that live in or near that crater. Who is the hell do these guys think they are doing something like this!

Well now you know where I stand. I feel raped and violated. It’s my moon too. We don’t know if other forms of life exist! I am deeply concerned about this. WHAT DO YOU THINK? Please, I would like your opinions!

funnything. i mean – i guess i think i agree with you, i mean – except for the fact that i don’t feel raped and violated. i simply think that although science has evolved, and we should want to know if there are life forms & water on the moon BUT i think that is an extreem expense, which should be put aside – at least until hunger has been eliminated as well as third world countries. the moon ISN’T all that important, and if alien life forms live there, let them live.

I don’t really think that you can argue the moon belongs to us, however I still find it somewhat outrageous.

Given human nature and the way people and the environment on Earth are treated does it surprise you?

  3. Marsha J. O'Brien Says:

Maybe “raped and violated” was strong. Some of the women I counseled over the years had been raped. All felt like something was taken away from them that could never be replaced. I think scientists often “test” theories when they are not sure of the long term results…or in this instance, if everything in our earth-moon relationship will be the same.

This is why I think the moon is important to us. Check this out:

“The moon is actually responsible for the Earth having a stable environment. If there were no moon, the Earth would wobble & temperatures would shift so much life could not have adapted to it fast enough.

The actions of the tides, due to the moon, probably helped accelerate the development of life in the seas.

Thanks for your comments, and I SURELY agree that let’s put that expense aside until hunger has been eliminated. We have much to work towards on planet earth!

Ashley – no it shouldn’t be a surprise, but humans never cease to amaze me with the lack respect they show in environmental concerns. Even on the roadway there is a definite lack of respect for each other and the fact cars are potentially giant weapons.

The moon may not belong “to us” individually, but on a full moon I swear I feel like it’s part of me as it’s been there all my life on earth. It doesn’t belong to Nasa either! 🙂

Thanks for taking time to share. I also get other perspectives and ideas and appreciate it for sure!

    “NASA” aka. the US Government.

I totally get your reason to be outraged though.
Lets hope they don’t blow the moon to pieces and have a meteor shower down on Earth!

  6. Marsha J. O'Brien Says:

Good point! Okay I’m with you – no meteor shower please! 🙂

You know. I didn’t really think of it in that way at all. I guess I do agree with you. The moon does not belong to America and they have no right to bomb bits n pieces of the moon.

Thanks for giving a very different insight to this piece of news!

You are most welcome! Thanks for reading. 🙂
