Choice Quotations – I wish I’d said these!

September 10, 2013

“You have brains in your head.

You have feet in your shoes.

You can steer yourself any direction you choose.

You’re on your own. And you know what you know.

And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go.”

Dr. Seuss

——————————————————————————————————-

“He who laughs, LASTS.”

Mary Pettibone Poole (I don’t know who she is but I loved this quote!)

——————————————————————————————————

My quote for the day is:  “Remember when you get down, somebody out here in cyberspace truly cares about you!”

How can I do that?  I believe we were born to love; therein, how could I not really care?  HAVE a Beautiful day!

Choose to do it and don’t let anything keep you down, or make you miserable!

Here are flowers for your pleasure!

Jonathan Livingston Seagull and more….

“You have the freedom to be yourself, your true self, here and now, and nothing can stand in your way.”

“Break the chains of your thought, and you break the chains of your body, too.”

“To fly as fast as thought, to anywhere that is, you must begin by knowing that you have already arrived….”

                                                     From Jonathan Livingston Seagull

“Act enthusiastic, and you’ll be enthusiastic.  Even if you feel uninspired, act as though you were overflowing with enthusiasm.”

                                                       Dale Carnegie

(When you take on an attitude-when you become it-it then becomes you.)

—————————————

“Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.”

                                                        Ralph Waldo Emerson

—————————————

Find something today to nurture your enthusiasm.  The word enthusiasm comes from the Greek entheos, meaning “to be filled with God”.   Be a kind human being and find that enthusiasm about something….even something you may take for granted.  Then give it a big “yahoo” and hug yourself and have a beautiful day!

Just too difficult

Flowers for You

FLOWERS FOR YOU!

I don’t think even the finest of movie buffs could remember where the quote “You’ve got to keep regular if you want to be happy.” came from.  It was Mr. Hallerun, in the Shining, with Jack Nickelson.

Even though the statement is REALLY true in the physiology of the human body, I prefer this statement.  Which is also true.

Your thoughts can be like ravenous wolves.  Don’t let the impact of the world shatter your thoughts.  You want to control things?  You have one hundred percent control of your thoughts (think about it) and your actions, or reactions.

Choose your thoughts wisely. Choose your actions with intellect in charge, and not raw emotions.  To get there – use your oxygen and it will calm you and help you gain control of the day.

Have a beautiful one!

I am living proof that you should enjoy your life moment by moment.

Never waste a moment when you can say, “I love you.

Never pass the opportunity by to hug someone you love.  Hug that person

close to you. Remember how wonderful it is that they are a part of your life.

Be grateful for small miracles we often take for granted.

Each moment is an opportunity to begin again, no matter what may seem impossible.  We are given life, and it is a wonderful gift.

Don’t diminish your spirit by dousing yourself with man’s enemies –

alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, hatred, vanity, and over-indulgence of anything that can harm you.

Time and circumstance happens to all men.

We have no real control over our lives, though we like to think we do.

The ONLY thing we have control of one hundred percent of the time, is our response to circumstances that come to us.

One moment I was thanking God for the blue sky, stars, my husband, the health of my children and grandchildren, and within a moment my life has changed forever.  I thank God all those awesome things I was thanking Him for have not changed.

I am working hard to recover from something I NEVER thought would happen to me.  For those of you who are following this blog, I will expound tomorrow, but for now I must rest.

God bless you and your loved ones.  God bless us all.  Now go hug someone or tell them you love them!

Short and Sweet

I have a tendency to write a book instead of a post – perhaps that is why my sister-in-law calls me Bunny…I am like the energizer bunny and just keep going on and on and on…….

I am sorry this quote is anonymous, but so glad I found it.  Have a GREAT weekend and remember when you do something for someone else – you also reap the reward!  God bless!

“Not what we have, but what we use,

Not what we see, but what we choose-

There are the things that mar or bless

The sum of human happiness.”

Often we find ourselves in the midst of spiritual mountaineering, where the slopes are sometimes like glass.

When our feet slip, and they will, we must reach for even the smallest branch that will stop us in our slide.

Steady now.  Once we are stopped…then we plan how to climb again and move upward.

The warmth of the sun above the mountain touches us, and  the glass transitions to grass.

Superficial answers do nothing more than provide a temporary relief.  Our goal is not to live our lives amidst illusions.   Be true to yourself.

———————————

Why should another man’s scruples apply to us, and our liberty of action be determined by another man’s conscience?

If we are true to our own deepest thoughts and beliefs, our paths will become steadier as we go.

Do not use superficial answers to problems that do nothing more than provide a temporary relief.  Do you want to live your life amidst illusions?

The following words are not mine, but I wish they were.  They are mine to pass along and they are important:

“WATCH your thoughts because they become your words.

WATCH your words because they become your actions.

WATCH your actions because they become your habits.

WATCH your habit for they become your character.

WATCH your character for it becomes your DESTINY. ”

Science vs God

October 31, 2010

I did not write this, but was sent it from a friend. It is a long read, but I found it interesting enough to post. Hope you enjoy! Food for thought….
—— Science

“Let me explain the problem science has with religion.”

The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.

‘You’re a Christian, aren’t you, son?’

‘Yes sir,’ the student says.

‘So you believe in God?’

‘Absolutely ‘

‘Is God good?’

‘Sure! God’s good.’

‘Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?’

‘Yes’

‘Are you good or evil?’

‘The Bible says I’m evil.’

The professor grins knowingly. ‘Aha! The Bible! He considers for a moment. ‘Here’s one for you. Let’s say there’s a sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him? Would you try?’

‘Yes sir, I would.’

‘So you’re good…!’

‘I wouldn’t say that.’

‘But why not say that? You’d help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn’t.’

The student does not answer, so the professor continues. ‘He doesn’t, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Can you answer that one?’

The student remains silent. ‘No, you can’t, can you?’ the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax. ‘Let’s start again, young fella. Is God good?’

‘Er..yes,’ the student says.

‘Is Satan good?’

The student doesn’t hesitate on this one.. ‘No.’

‘Then where does Satan come from?’

The student falters. ‘From God’

‘That’s right. God made Satan, didn’t he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?’

‘Yes, sir.’

‘Evil’s everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything, correct?’

‘Yes’

‘So who created evil?’ The professor continued, ‘If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.’

Again, the student has no answer. ‘Is there sickness? Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?’

The student squirms on his feet. ‘Yes.’

‘So who created them ?’

The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. ‘Who created them?’ There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. ‘Tell me,’ he continues onto another student. ‘Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?’

The student’s voice betrays him and cracks. ‘Yes, professor, I do.’

The old man stops pacing. ‘Science says you have five senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?’

‘No sir. I’ve never seen Him.’

‘Then tell us if you’ve ever heard your Jesus?’

‘No, sir, I have not.’

‘Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?’

‘No, sir, I’m afraid I haven’t.’

‘Yet you still believe in him?’

‘Yes’

‘According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn’t exist… What do you say to that, son?’

‘Nothing,’ the student replies.. ‘I only have my faith.’

‘Yes, faith,’ the professor repeats. ‘And that is the problem science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.’

The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of His own. ‘Professor, is there such thing as heat? ‘

‘ Yes.

‘And is there such a thing as cold?’

‘Yes, son, there’s cold too.’

‘No sir, there isn’t.’

The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested. The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain. ‘You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat, but we don’t have anything called ‘cold’. We can hit down to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest -458 degrees. Every body or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy.. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.’

Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer.

‘What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?’

‘Yes,’ the professor replies without hesitation. ‘What is night if it isn’t darkness?’

‘You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it’s called darkness, isn’t it? That’s the meaning we use to define the word. In reality, darkness isn’t. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?’

The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him. This will be a good semester. ‘So what point are you making, young man?’

‘Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.’

The professor’s face cannot hide his surprise this time. ‘Flawed? Can you explain how?’

‘You are working on the premise of duality,’ the student explains.. ‘You argue that there is life and then there’s death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, science can’t even explain a thought.’ ‘It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.’ ‘Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?’

‘If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.’

‘Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?’

The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.

‘Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?’

The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided. ‘To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.’ The student looks around the room. ‘Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor’s brain?’ The class breaks out into laughter. ‘Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor’s brain, felt the professor’s brain, touched or smelt the professor’s brain? No one appears to have done so.. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir.’ ‘So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?’

Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable. Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers. ‘I Guess you’ll have to take them on faith.’

‘Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,’ the student continues. ‘Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?’ Now uncertain, the professor responds, ‘Of course, there is. We see it Everyday. It is in the daily example of man’s inhumanity to man. It is in The multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world.. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.’

To this the student replied, ‘Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God.. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God’s love present in his heart. It’s like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.’

The professor sat down.

If you read it all the way through and had a smile on your face when you finished, mail to your friends and family with the title ‘God vs. Science’

Great thoughts – the poetry of Wisdom from many sources…

March 31, 2010

Wayne Dyer, on the radio one day. He had just written a book called You’ll See It When You Believe It. Dyer said that if you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad day, you’ll rarely disappoint yourself. He said, “Stop complaining! Differentiate yourself from your competition. Don’t be a duck. Be an eagle. Ducks quack and complain. Eagles soar above the crowd.”

Thoughts

March 21, 2010

I am a loving, kind, spiritual kind of woman, and yet to date, I still lean towards judging others. First of all, who am I to judge? The only thing I haven’t done is to commit a heinous physical crime against another human being.

I admit, one time I took a shot at someone. Well the target was actually the wall next to his head. I aimed there and only meant, at that moment, “Go away, now.” He did.

Back to the implausible thing I still do, after being forgiven in my life by my mentor, and my own kind of human beings. I judge. Not prison for life. Just watching…. just being a bit defensive of my life and my families lives.

Not trusting. Sometimes finding myself with a shield around me to protect me from harm. I think this is, in part, to the media reporting all the hideous and violence in America.

I cry to God and He hears me. I think He said to me, just now, “You got yourself into this mess, now get yourself out! I’ve been here when you need me, but I’m not hotfooting it up those stairs. Do it yourself. I trust you will. I love you. Now stop judging others. Stop thinking fearful thoughts.”

So I write – sometimes scattered thoughts bouncing from one moment in time, to another…. recalling events as if freshly minted in my mind. There is so much I want to do. I wonder why it takes so long for the “growing” of us as human beings. Maybe I am just a slow learner..

I do know that this day I will not even make a slight judgment of another. I will try to use these moments of my life to revel in the beauty of this earth and the joys of human relationships and love. I hope you are compelled to have a wonderful day. We aren’t guaranteed time on this planet, so enjoy your day to the fullest.

“Facing life does not guarantee success, but giving in to fear and turning away from it does guarantee failure.”

If you loose your brakes while driving……

March 18, 2010

This is just good emergency information you may not have heard. Do not turn off the engine as if you have power steering you will loose control of the wheel.

Do put your foot on the brake, shift into neutral, and try to pull off the road. That’s about all you can do, but at least you won’t be going one hundred miles an hour and endangering yourself and everyone else on the road.

(If you wonder why I posted this in each category, it’s because most of us drive!)

Be safe when driving. Courtesy is underrated, and if people think “guns” are dangerous, just remember your car is a huge and heavy piece of equipment that can be a huge danger if not driven safely.

I have been asked what happened to my stressmanagementmagic blog. I no longer write that blog, but write here:

Here is a Bible verse that I found JUST WHEN I NEEDED IT. Sometimes it happens that way.
“Even when we are too weak to have any faith left, He remains faithful to us and will help us, for He cannot disown us, who are a part of Himself, and He will always carry out His promises to us.”
2 Timothy 2:13

Have a BEAUTIFUL DAY!
