EV – D68 ( Virus) : Children

October 7, 2014

Here is the latest update on EV-D68 (virus) It has now been recognized in forty-states. Please be sure to watch your children closely. The first signs mimic the common cold – (sometimes fever, runny nose, sneezing and coughing).

EV-D68 has many strains. In the fifties and sixties, it was the cause of cases of POLIO, though, it only recently has become a problem associated with serious respiratory conditions – particularly with those with asthma and those prone to breathing issues.

The virus mimics the common cold initially. The cough can be intense, and it can cause difficulty in breathing. Many children have neck or back pain or pain in the arms and legs (muscle and body aches). Listen to your children – they probably won’t read “what the symptoms are!”

As recent as within the last week, some cases are causing paralysis!!

If your child is sick – keep him or her at home! The virus passes from person to person, with a cough, sneezes or even touching surfaces. Sneezes travel at over 65 miles per hour.

The best defense is to have children WASH his or her hands vigorously several times a day. Not the kind of washing that water passes over, a dribble of soap, rinse and done!

Wash clear up to the wrists, and thoroughly. This virus is not restricted to the USA. It is MANY places in the world, so please care for these blessed little ones.

Show your children how you want them to wash. Show them how to cover their mouths, with bent elbow, when they cough. Be vigilant. One child has died in the United States. He was four years old.

God bless you and God bless all the children!

A Gift to You from God

A Gift to You from God

Please Read This NOW.

May 16, 2013

I am living proof that you should enjoy your life moment by moment.

Never waste a moment when you can say, “I love you.

Never pass the opportunity by to hug someone you love.  Hug that person

close to you. Remember how wonderful it is that they are a part of your life.

Be grateful for small miracles we often take for granted.

Each moment is an opportunity to begin again, no matter what may seem impossible.  We are given life, and it is a wonderful gift.

Don’t diminish your spirit by dousing yourself with man’s enemies –

alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, hatred, vanity, and over-indulgence of anything that can harm you.

Time and circumstance happens to all men.

We have no real control over our lives, though we like to think we do.

The ONLY thing we have control of one hundred percent of the time, is our response to circumstances that come to us.

One moment I was thanking God for the blue sky, stars, my husband, the health of my children and grandchildren, and within a moment my life has changed forever.  I thank God all those awesome things I was thanking Him for have not changed.

I am working hard to recover from something I NEVER thought would happen to me.  For those of you who are following this blog, I will expound tomorrow, but for now I must rest.

God bless you and your loved ones.  God bless us all.  Now go hug someone or tell them you love them!

Important-Urgent-Contagious-Worldwide

January 30, 2013

This is not to make you panic but to KNOW what to do to protect you and your family; particularly small children and the elderly.

NOROVIRUS is EXTREMELY CONTAGIOUS and has no cure except TIME!  This is a new strain, unseen before.

The best way to avoid the norovirus is to wash your hands often using soap and water.  Alcohol-based hand cleansers are not effective against this virus.”

Noroviruses are the leading cause of foodborne disease outbreaks worldwide, and may soon eclipse rotaviruses as the most common cause of severe pediatric

Norovirus is a highly contagious viral illness that thrives in colder weather. Sometimes called the stomach flu, it begins suddenly and usually causes stomach cramps and nausea in addition to vomiting and diarrhea. Some people may also experience low-grade fever, chills, headache, body aches and fatigue.

The vomiting can be projectile, and the diarrhea severe, so please remember the virus stays alive for a long period of time – even after normal cleaning.

It can be on an elevator button, a railing on an elevator, salt and pepper shakers in a restaurant…even on dishes that have been watched by a thorough “normal cleaning”.

Most people recover quickly, but serious complications can occur, including death.

Small children and the elderly are highest at risk groups.  Spread the word.  Make sure nursery schools and school officials are aware of these facts.

Those infected with norovirus are contagious from the moment they begin to feel sick until as long as two weeks after recovery.

There is no vaccine to prevent norovirus infection, and there is no drug to treat it; antibiotics are ineffective.

THESE ARE THE best ways to reduce the risk of getting norovirus:

Practice good hand hygiene. Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom and changing diapers.  Teach your children – and monitor them – to wash with soap and water for a full thirty seconds (the length of many short children’s songs).  Tell them to wash heartily until they finish singing the song!

Clean and disinfect contaminated surfaces. After throwing up or having diarrhea, immediately clean surfaces by using bleach-based household cleaner as directed on the product label or a diluted bleach solution (5-25 tablespoons of household bleach per gallon of water). Never use undiluted bleach, but remember bleach is dangerous for children so use good judgement.

Remove and wash clothing and linens that may be contaminated with vomit or stool. Handle soiled items carefully to avoid spreading the virus. If available, wear rubber, disposable gloves while handling soiled clothing or linens and wash your hands after handling. Items should be washed with detergent at the maximum cycle length and machine dried.

Do not prepare food while infected or while you have symptoms of norovirus.

Anyone with knowledge of an outbreak should report it to their local health department.

Noroviruses are the most common cause of gastroenteritis in the U.S. It is estimated that each year, more than 20 million cases of gastroenteritis are caused by norovirus, but this years virus is a new strain.   That means that 1 in every 15 Americans will become ill from norovirus each year.

Noroviruses can spread quickly from person to person in crowded, closed places such as long-term care facilities, day care centers, schools, hotels, hospitals, family dinners, student housing, restaurants and cruise ships.

Noroviruses are found in the stool and vomit of infected people.

People can become infected by:

Eating food or drinking liquids that are contaminated with norovirus.

Touching surfaces or objects that are contaminated with norovirus, and then placing a hand in the mouth.

Having direct contact with an infected person; for example, by exposure to the virus when caring for or when sharing food, drinks, or eating utensils with an infected person.  This makes teenagers at high risk too because of growing attraction to the opposite sex, groups gathering for football games, parties, etc.  BE CAREFUL!

Though most people recover – there have been about eight hundred deaths a year…prior to this new strain.  Pay attention and be well!  Share this information.

Anyone of the feminine gender you care about? Are you a woman? Read on……

January 30, 2012

This is REALLY important if you care about your daughters, wife, girlfriend or simply a friend of the feminine gender. Do not dismiss the power of the media. I had an attempted rape years ago, and I really believe much of what is presented to us is an open invitation to violence against women.

Please take time to watch this short trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6gkIiV6konY (I have tried several times to make this a link you just click on, but somehow I can’t seem to do it!) I wish I was more savvy about using this wonderful way to share and learn…..sorry! 🙂

Look at your young daughters and sons and remember you can talk to them all day, but what they really learn from is what they see!
Thank you for taking time to watch the video.

A Christmas Wish – Please

December 22, 2011

I have written over 500 posts and hopefully I know I do have some regular readers. I have tried to publish informative, true, funny, and important posts. I have answered almost every response, and still correspond with many of you. Today I have a request. It would actually answer a Christmas prayer for me.

My son lives in Morocco with his Moroccan wife, and their beautiful 5 month old baby. He has tried to bring them to the USA, but new laws (don’t know if it is just in Morocco, or everywhere,) that do not allow him to bring his family unless he comes alone for 6 months and works-or he has substantial money. He does not want to miss his child’s life; nor does he want to leave them.

He is earning a living by teaching and he is a fine writer. He has entered a contest which is very important in his life, and all he is asking is 5 seconds for a vote. Though
I do not understand the title – I am sure the book will turn a great tale. He is a kind and decent man and Needs this wish to come true. PLEASE take 5 seconds – such a small amount of time – and give him a vote. You don’t even have to read the first five sample pages. I will guarantee it is not trash and he is worthy of a wish come true. It’s not much to ask…..pretty please! He writes a fabulous travel log, and is working hard for his family (as anyone with love, will do. 🙂

This is is baby. Sophie

She needs daddy to be able to earn money at what he does.

This is how you do it. Go to: http://curiosityquills.com/giveaways-contests/nano-virtuosos-competition/round-two/

You don’t even have to read the five pages…just trust me, it will be good. Vote for
the first five pages of “Douchebags, Fag and Hags” (I KNOW- the title is strange, but he is a good man and I trust his works…) Don’t vote for anyone else as it will cancel his vote. Please respond to my request, and I will continue to respond to any thoughts, questions or needs you have! Pretty pretty please.

THANKS, and have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS (politically correct or not!). God bless you and all your family.

The TRUTH about ILLEGAL border crossing

July 17, 2010

I could not resist posting this as it pinpoints the problem. My son spent two years legally getting his Filipino
wife into the country – for all those who do it legally, the illegals are making a mockery of them. Bravo to
Arizona’s governor. It’s only right to “check” questionable people. Do not know the author, but I checked and the information is correct. Self-explanatory.
Subject: US Versus Them–Border Crossing

If you cross the North Korean border illegally: you get 12 years hard labor.

If you cross the Iranian border illegally: you are detained indefinitely.

If you cross the Afghan border illegally: you get shot.

If you cross the Saudi Arabian border illegally: you will be jailed.

If you cross the Chinese border illegally: you may never be heard from again.

If you cross the Venezuelan border illegally: you will be branded a spy and your fate will be sealed.

If you cross the Cuban border illegally: you will be thrown into political prison to rot.

If you cross the U.S. border illegally you get:

* a job
* a drivers license
* social security card
* welfare
* food stamps
* credit cards
* subsidized rent or a loan to buy a house
* free education
* free health care
* a lobbyist in Washington
* billions of dollars worth of public documents printed in your language
* the right to carry your country’s flag while you protest that you don’t get enough respect
* and, in many instances, you can vote

COME ON NOW – admit we need to do something – you think?

Where’s the Help?

May 22, 2010

Seriously.

I rarely get sick – last time was about fifteen years ago! I’ve been VERY sick since Sunday. Was told, “probably virus, maybe allergies, and if not better by Friday take this antibiotic as it’s most likely bacterial.” Okay. Antibiotic it is!

There were a few more things that made me sick this week. I am never late on a payment as we are trying to keep our credit good, though I can’t figure out why right now!

I mailed Juniper (Barclay’s bank) my payment on the day it was due. Whoops – hey, I’m really sick and my husband is out of town trying to hold things together. The same day I got a letter from Juniper saying they hadn’t received my check on the 12th and now I have added a $39.00 late fee. Yikes.

I was pissed. That’s the only word that fits. I got on the phone and called. Well the customer service representative was in the Philippines and I could hardly understand her.

Let’s see – corporations out source work to the Philippines, India, Mexico, and who knows where else. No work here – unemployment claims went up 25,000. last week. ☹

Anyway, back to no help.I got put on hold, transferred, disconnected, and then called again to speak to another Filipino gal. She said we could resolve it. No grace period, but as a one time courtesy they would remove the late charges if I would pay another $35.00 by phone this very same day! Remember I have NEVER been late with a payment in all the years I’ve had this account. I almost said something I would have regretted. I know this young woman is not to blame. It is the banks we bailed out. ☹

Moving on to the next complaint. (Remember it’s always good to get feelings and complaints out even if it’s just writing.)

I applied with Costco’s “mortgage” partners for a great deal to refinance my home, the Lending Tree. Remember I have GREAT credit and payment record with all three credit agencies.

First of all they ran a credit score from all three agencies for my husband and myself. Our credit average is 792. It somehow slipped from the low 800’s and I haven’t a clue why!
We have done nothing to have it lower.

Next the best they could do for me was 5.8460 % (my rate is 6% right now. The total cost would be $5,746.92.

My mortgage is a pittance: I owe $163,723.65. Been in the home 20+ years. If I refinanced this amount the finance charge over the years would be $178,628.79, with a total payment cost of $345,628.79. Sweet, eh?

I would be better off to go to prison for life where I would get no hassle medical, dental and glasses (Medicare, by the way doesn’t cover dental or glasses, and most doctors won’t cover a hysterectomy if a woman needs one and has medicare.)

Of course if I was an illegal alien I would get all my medical for free – plus my kids would be covered and when school was out I could be assured for hot meals for the kids everyday for free.
The state of California is so generous. Oh, our state tax just went up 10%. Do illegals pay taxes? ☹

Back to prison. I could get my education, work out every day without the cost of a gym, have free psychological help, and from someone I know who’s son is in prison – get the best drugs ever! Hmmmmm. Did you hear one of the 911 terrorists came to America on a visa years ago and was given a twenty thousand dollar education paid by taxpayers?

Next. Heard about the “creation” of life without genetic background? Only took 40 million dollars to be able to do this little project. I wonder if these creatures would have a spirit or just be little robots to control. Oh, also, during these scientific studies I understand there is a fear of some bacteria being released that could harm millions – probably won’t happen though. ☹

Census takers are nearing the end of their jobs……there goes all that flurry of happiness about “new jobs” being created.

Be prepared for another round of foreclosusres. It comes in July (all the arm loans, I believe). Also, seniors were not given a cost of living increase this year. Oh well, the social security they’ve earned over the years will cover any expense – NOT!

It is amazing to me nothing was mentioned when Mexico’s president was visiting about the increased gangs and cartel bringing drugs into this country. That’s right, what is more important is for it to be mentioned American weapons are getting into the hands of bad men in Mexico. Tsk tsk. Kind of follows the theme Democrats are following on gun control it seems to me. (I am a political atheist. I belong to no group – well maybe the tea party).

So I ask you, WHERE’S THE HELP for the vaporized middle class Americans who have slaved all their lives and paid into taxes and social security, and not faltered on payments due. We go from week to week and have little or nothing left over. Falter a couple of weeks and our lives will change – and who knows, maybe it will be better in this MexAmerica melting pot. I used to love to walk in the woods, but the armed Mexicans with the cartels kind of put a hex on that. I am not a bigot by the way.

Humans are humans and I would help anyone if they needed help. I just tell it like it is, and every time I watch the LOCAL news the problem is with convicts released early, child molesters, and Mexican residents. Hey – I’m just reporting the news honestly.

Now back to being sick…….at least it helped me to get it out!

Pay it forward, if you can..

May 6, 2010

I have never pushed selling my CD’s or books, or anything on my blog or website. My goal is to try to help share positive thoughts and stress management information for those who desperately need it and can’t afford training. I am asking today though, if you are able, and if you choose to do so, to help me now.

I bought a wedding gown and veil, shoes, a bag, all the wedding attire my son’s fiancee in Morocco needs to have a special three day wedding. Her dream is an American wedding gown. I packed everything in two boxes and insured them in case they were lost (thinking they could use the money to replace them – or for whatever they needed.

My son contacted me yesterday and told me because I insured them (even though I paid $160.00
postage) – in order to pick up the boxes he would have to pay $400.00 American currency. I
cried most of the day yesterday, even knowing it’s rather an impossible situation. We don’t even know if they will be returned if he doesn’t pick them up. It’s just not right.

Today I am on a different venue. I have a car load of personal things that I am taking to dealer’s to buy…and I am going to try to round up some hot cash for him! Here is what I am asking of you. If you have enjoyed my writing or gained some help from my http://www.stressmanagementmagic.com website, please pay it forward by donating whatever you could spare to my son’s Paypal account. It is chrisdamitio@yahoo.com. (He doesn’t know I am doing this, but it would be a miracle surprise for sure).

Even if you could part with a few dollars it would be awesome. I’ve written over four hundred posts here, and over one hundred on my new website. I will continue, but if you all could pull together and help out a bit it would be AWESOME. It is humbling to ask, but we are all (at least us “peasants” struggling) to make ends meet, and this would be a miracle for him to be able to get the boxes.

He teaches English there but has just moved his “bride” to a nice apartment and you know how costs add up to move anywhere!

It’s easy to spend a few dollars on junk and other stuff, but this would be paying it forward to join in a beautiful wedding for a couple totally in love. I’ve given away so many classes in health and fitness over the years – traded for what some had instead of money – or just done the classes for free. We all try to help one another, and this would really show me that Spirit and love really do exist, even on the internet!

Have a wonderful day! This could be a fairy-tale ending for their beginning. Love is still around!

That was then….

April 28, 2010

You must live your life IN THE NOW, for the now, this moment is all we have left.

Keep your thoughts sweet in anticipation of the good yet to come, and it will come to you.

No regrets. No sorrow. Have steel to protect you in your heart, but keep it tender and true, for today and tomorrow.

Truth never ends and forgiveness is required; if you’ve been in frozen in time – look to the blossoms and flow in life’s rhyme.

This moment is all. Love is now. Forget the pittance of then and its sorrows – live life right now, for time can’t be borrowed.
