A Gift to You from God
September 9, 2013Finding Solace
March 12, 2009To find solace in the sorrows of life one must consistently be able to elevate thoughts and hope to a higher level.
Upon reflection of my own life I thought nothing could be worse than my own child suffering a birth defect and surgery as a small infant . Along the path tragedy has increased, side by side, with intensity I never knew I could manage.
Each circumstance laying another brick upon the foundation I perceive as my own. Each injury to my spirit coming with the assured knowledge now, that with wisdom and faith anything can be resolved. I can forge a head as a human soul and survive the most dire of circumstances.
The truth of it all is grounded in the fact that no matter what happens we have a choice in the final thoughts and position we take.
There are three steps to manage and survive this life. The first is acceptance that circumstances will happen and often times we have absolutely no control over what happens. The second is whether we will elevate or descend in our minds. It is always a choice. The third is to keep hope alive and find the joy that is still all around us.
Don’t let unhappy people steal your joy. Bless them, feel empathy for their pain, help them if possible, or move quickly to another place. Surround yourself with positive and loving people . Like a magnet you will all draw those positive feelings from one to another, and another.
We have only this moment. Use it wisely.
Enjoy these flowers – they are for you!
“The clean energy scam.”
April 5, 2008I only COPY material that I believe is important enough to post. Last time I did this I did not name the source. This time I know to do so, and the selected paragraphs come from Time Magazine.
“ Hyped as an eco-friendly fuel, ethanol increases global warming, destroys forests and inflates food prices.”
“Worldwide investment in biofuels rose from $5 billion tin 1995 to $38 billion in 2005 and is expected to top $100 billion by 2010.”
“But several new studies show the biofuel boom is doing exactly the opposite of what its proponents intended: it’s dramatically accelerating global warming, imperiling the planet in the name of saving it.”
“Meanwhile, by diverting grain and oilseed crops from dinner plates to fuel tanks, biofuels are jacking up world food prices and endangering the hungry.”
“Deforestation accounts for 20% of all current carbon emissions. So unless the world can eliminate emissions from ALL other sources-cars, power plants, factories, even flatulent cows – it needs to reduce deforestation or risk an environmental catastrophe.”
….”But the world is still going to be fighting an uphill battle until it realizes that right now, biofuels aren’t part of the solution at all. They’re part of the problem.”
WHAT IS THIS?
March 31, 200810 years ago when I first saw it, the circle was much smaller and closer to the sun-looked like a ring around the sun filled with smog. Today I happened to look and the ring is MUCH MUCH bigger than it was. I did
a photo merge.
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY IDEA what causes this. I do not remember EVER seeing it before about 10 years ago-and I am a gazer at the sky….
Please share with me if you know / or even if you think you know!
Verbatim – Unexplained Phenomen
November 11, 2007Normally I don’t copy material, but I found a very small article on the back page of the paper and I found it absolutely incredible – what do you think?
“A weird glow is visible in the night sky right now, and astronomers don’t know what to make of it. It’s an obscure and very faint comet that suddenly blazed into astonishing brilliance and is growing larger but dimmer-and while it’s still visible all night long, astronomers are puzzling over the unexpected outburst.”
“It’s really bizarre, said Joseph Miller, a University of California at Santa Cruz astronomer and former director of the Lick Observatory atop Mount Hamilton, near San Jose.”
(NOW HERE IS THE AMAZING PART TO ME) “That thing started out only a few miles in diameter, and suddenly it expanded at a thousand miles an hour until it was as big as the Earth within only a couple of days.” With a decent pair of binoculars-or even with unaided eyes-anyone can see the comet right now as a tiny, fuzzy, white object in the northern sky- wherever fog
doesn’t obscure the sight. It lies just inside the constellation Perseus, below the more familiar constellation Cassiopeia and due east of Polaris, the North Star. It’s called Comet 17P/Holmes and was discovered in 1892 by the British astronomer Edwin Holmes, who spotted it as it appeared to explode in what Holmes thought was an outbust of gas.”
Pretty interesting, eh? Any thoughts?
Telescope Budget problems
October 13, 2007In Puerto Rico there is, suspended by steel cables and strung from 300 ft. towers, an array of antenna hangs above an aluminum bowl 1,00 feet in diameter that gazes into space. This is the largest and most sensitive radio telescope on earth.
It has an extraordinary history and one of the missions is to search for signs of intelligent life. It has made discoveries for decades.
IT IS THE ONLY FACILITY ON THE PLANET ABLE TO TRACK ASTEROIDS WITH ENOUGH PRECISION TO TELL WHICH ONES MIGHT PLOW INTO EARTH! It could save perhaps millions of lives. Yet, it may close down for a lack of “a few million” dollars – a pittance these days. This is insane.
The National Science Foundation has funded the dish, but told folks at Cornell University (who operate the facility), that if it cannot find outside sources in the next three years, it may need to close. It’s budget has been cut to free up money for new adventures. What the heck is the matter with those who fund the telescope!
Astronomers say it’s all back to politics, and not really a lack of good science. The cash crunch comes from a senior review last November….Come on – for any of you with money or clout, this is a great project to dedicate a “few” of your bucks to perhaps save the world.
Maybe the $12 million dollar gift the “queen of mean” left her dog should be donated! Surely with billions being wasted on war and throw away by political candidates to get elected, something can be done. All I can do is pass on what I know about it as I am not one of those with money to free up to help.
Please pass this information forward and perhaps something can be done via the posting of blogs! Thanks and have a beautiful day!
