Here is a first for my blog! I am presenting you with and mp3 that I believe is great and timely.

August 30, 2014

I hope you enjoy!  Remember, and pass it forward!

Third time is a charm

February 10, 2014

I do not know why but today I am having trouble posting.  So I will practice my patience and stick with it.

Yahoo, I have a few minutes to write a bit again.  I have been doing my exercises two times a day (no one ever gets better by “thinking” about doing exercises), so I am highly motivated!

I hope you are “CREATING” a beautiful day.  Remember, no matter what happens to you, you always have one hundred percent control over your RESPONSE!  Take a breath before you speak, and remember YOU ARE in charge of your response to ANY scenario.

Never let life drag you to a pit – at least, if you wind up in the pit, start the ladder upward by being in charge of you!  Trust me, I have been to hell and back (more than once), and when I finally realized I was “in charge” my life began to change.

If someone flipped me off, I just said a prayer for him/or her, because they probably needed it.  I kept my happy feeling, and in turn, my day was not diminished!  No matter what happens….YOU are the most important boss in your life.

I tried being miserable.  It sucked, so I literally gave it up!  If I have a pity party or am down, I allow myself those emotions, then I switch from emotion to intellect, and move onward and upward.

I know you can change your life just by being the kind of “boss of you”, that you would be for someone else.  You are a very important person!  You are a one of a kind.  Now hug yourself and smile!  All is not lost!

Here is a fact that we all should know:  if you have just one latte a day, in three hundred and sixty five days, you will have eaten thirty-nine pounds of sugar!  Use moderation and you can still enjoy the things you like.

Will close this post now with a reminder, you REALLY can turn your life around just by the CHOICES you make in response to life’s mountain that challenge us all.  Take a breath, and God bless you!

BEWARE OF SCAMMERS! HOLD ON TO YOUR MONEY!

This is the email I got when my husband requested information about a truck for sale

This 1975 Ford F250 4X4 Highboy runs and drives excellent. It is in immaculate condition, meticulously maintained, hasn’t been involved in any accident and has a clear title. Everything works in the vehicle: lights, gauges, radio, seats, windows, locks, etc… It has no leaks, drips and does not smoke at all. Has no electrical or mechanical problems, damages, dings, scratches or hidden defects.

I bought it when I was serving in Fort Lewis, WA U.S. Army base and now I am deployed in London, UK. The vehicle will be delivered from Washington, US. I have dropped my price to $4,500 (purchase price) that includes delivery and handling to your address since this is an Urgent Sale! I need to sell it before October 19th, when I will be deployed in Afghanistan with my platoon replacing the troops scheduled to come home.

I have setup this sale with Amazon Payments so this deal must go through them. The transaction will be managed by Amazon Payments for our own protection as they act as a neutral third part, which means that you will have a 5 days inspection period (starting from the moment when you get it) before committing to buy the vehicle. If the vehicle is not in same condition as I said, you will ship it back on my expense and Amazon Payments will send you a full refund. But I assure you won’t be the case.

If you’re interested to conclude this purchase in a timely manner email me your Full Name and Shipping Address to open a case with Amazon Payments. They will contact you to explain the entire procedure without any obligation to buy it or fees.

I don’t want to offend you, but the vehicle is priced for a fast sale so if you intend to apply for a loan or financing please do not reply to this message.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Grace Reagan

P.S.: I have made a photo bucket album for vehicle: http://s1318.photobucket.com/user/1975_Ford_F250_4X4_Highboy/library/?sort=2&page=1

——————————————-

(By the way – I asked if Grace was a male or female-no response. No permanent address)

This is the format being used by scammers!

I have setup this sale with Amazon Payments so this deal must go through them. The transaction will be managed by Amazon Payments for our own protection as they act as a neutral third part. In order to complete this deal the payment must be sent to Amazon Payments through bank transfer.

They will keep your money into a protection account until you get the vehicle and will release it to me after inspection period is over and you agree to keep it. So, this is not a blind transaction, you can see it before committing to buy and to eliminate any concerns you will have 5 days to inspect it . If you decide not to keep it Amazon Payments will refund you the money, no questions asked, and shipping back will be my concern. I think this is more than fair for both of us.

If you want to buy it please email me your full name and address for delivery so I can initiate the transaction through Amazon Payments. After that they will contact you with all necessary info—–rmation about this transaction(terms, buyer protection, payment instructions,invoice,etc.).

ALL BS – though there are legitimate Amazon deals.  You must do your research.

True Story!

October 1, 2013

I tried being miserable.

It SUCKED.

So I gave it up!

Today is very busy but I have two important posts to share.  I will try to get back later, but if not, tomorrow for sure!  CREATE a beautiful day for yourself and those in the circle of your life.  I do really care.

Do you love your children?

Violence and horror in the USA

Twenty-year old Dillon Quick told authorities that he thought about stabbing people at age eight.  It has also been brought to the public’s attention that he had thought about cutting off people’s faces, and eating them.  Articles found in his home include an animal dissection book, and a Hannibal lector mask.

Last night my husband and I watched two programs on television that we watch weekly.  One is  “The Americans” and the other is “Southland”.  My husband likes action shows, and the writing is okay on both.

Do you know how many deaths occurred in eight Quentin Tarantino movies?  Approximately five hundred and sixty!

There are approximately four hundred and forty three thousand deaths from smoking each year, two hundred thousand rapes (female/male) per year,

fifty thousand deaths per year from violence, and over ten thousand drunk driving fatalities  (one hundred and fifty thousand alcohol related deaths) in the USA.  Over one hundred and fifty MILLION drivers were arrested in 2010 for driving under the influence of alcohol or narcotics.

CANNABIS / MARIJUANA – 0 deaths.

What do these paragraphs have in common? Hollywood.  You can watch a movie, television, or something produced in Hollywood on the internet, and you will be guaranteed of one thing ninety-eight percent of the time.  There will be someone smoking, a violent rape, casual and consistent drinking of “straight” shots of hard liquor, shootings, stabbings, horrific and hideous actions portrayed by the “famous” and the “wanna be” famous.

GUESS WHAT?  Many people are highly infatuated with “movie stars” due to media coverage.  I really love the award shows they concocted to promote themselves, so they can give themselves presents, awards, and publicity.  The millions and millions and millions of dollars these people make is not enough.  Johnny Depp made thirty-five million dollars alone for the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. They even get a pass from our illustrious “wanna be” a star, and king of the world obama.

I know – athletes make fabulous money.  Corporation CEO’s make millions.

Surgeons make millions (however they save lives and do unbelievably wonderful things for human beings sometimes.

So what is it that REALLY maddest me mad about the “movie stars”?  Re-read paragraphs one through five again.

These people can promote their politics, donate their time for a concert to help raise money for a cause (even though they could each donate a million dollars – and quit asking peasants for help.  They can even open schools for a “chosen” few to educate them.

BUT ARE THEY ASKED TO NOT PARTICIPATE in all the “acting” that reviles everything normal families and citizens consider honorable and good.  NOPE!  They are fed millions to feed the peasants. In my mind, incidents that happen regularly have been washed over our brains repeatedly until we become insensitive to many, and obsessive for more blood and violence.

Scenarios are created by persons who may be just a “bit off”, mimicking

What has become daily food for their minds?

Little children are placed in front of the television to give two working parents a break (perhaps).  But insidious and questionable materials are presented to these children as early as six o’clock in the evening, and from that hour forward.  Parents get tired.  Tired of monitoring EVERYTHING from television to music, to the Internet, to the cell phone, a parent’s guard is let down “just for a few.”

Honestly, having the Internet available on cell phones has just made the burden more difficult…….

These are problems WE, as parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors, must address.  If we don’t get some control the next couple of generations will be OUT OF CONTROL.

Respect has almost become a word unknown to children because of the “no spank” laws that are used to intimidate parents.  I, personally, think a good swat on the behind is an “attention getter”.  I don’t mean a swat to relieve your stress, but a swat to just get a child’s attention.

HOWEVER you decide to handle your children is your business, but GET INVOLVED in their “growing into adults”.  I know it’s rough, and especially for working parents and single moms and dads, but NO ONE else can help the children unless you get involved….don’t wait until it’s too late and the person who gets involved is the parole officer!   Don’t wait until they are pregnant!  DON’T wait a moment longer…EVEN if you have to be the bad “guy”.  You CANNOT be your child’s friend until they are grown.

They are the innocent ones.  They are SCREAMING for your consistent, fair, and REAL attention.

If you need to, get help.  Read a book on parenting at your child’s appropriate age, counsel with other parents or a church group, and for heaven’s sake, pray!

I speak with love and from experience regarding these things.  Lastly, put down the wine glass or your drink when the glass is empty the first time.

Don’t have regrets that could have been joyous moments!

Today is a good day

May 18, 2013

I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy; for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities.

Have mercy upon me, o Lord, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.

Psalm 31: 7,9, 24

Today is a good day.  I can see and read.  I can speak.  I can communicate via the internet and the cell phone.  I can wash my face with a warm wash cloth, and I am nourished with fresh fruit and juice and water.

hi all!

Today I will keep the faith I profess by leaning on the Lord with my anxious thoughts and deep desire to heal.  I will then show Him I trust Him by leaving anxiety, fear and tear- blow them into a balloon, float the balloon high in the air and then leave it there for another time.

If feel I must become most  human and need to have a moment of unbridled emotion.….but one that is  reasonable, I will pull the balloon towards me. Then I will release those emotions.  I can let them fly out my fingertips and into oblivion, and slowly loosen the string to fly the balloon high above me.

I will not spend my moments weary and weeping.  I will trust in the Lord, and my balloon will ultimately diminish in size and my faith will broaden my thoughts onward and upward.

Today is a good day.

Please Read This NOW.

I am living proof that you should enjoy your life moment by moment.

Never waste a moment when you can say, “I love you.

Never pass the opportunity by to hug someone you love.  Hug that person

close to you. Remember how wonderful it is that they are a part of your life.

Be grateful for small miracles we often take for granted.

Each moment is an opportunity to begin again, no matter what may seem impossible.  We are given life, and it is a wonderful gift.

Don’t diminish your spirit by dousing yourself with man’s enemies –

alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, hatred, vanity, and over-indulgence of anything that can harm you.

Time and circumstance happens to all men.

We have no real control over our lives, though we like to think we do.

The ONLY thing we have control of one hundred percent of the time, is our response to circumstances that come to us.

One moment I was thanking God for the blue sky, stars, my husband, the health of my children and grandchildren, and within a moment my life has changed forever.  I thank God all those awesome things I was thanking Him for have not changed.

I am working hard to recover from something I NEVER thought would happen to me.  For those of you who are following this blog, I will expound tomorrow, but for now I must rest.

God bless you and your loved ones.  God bless us all.  Now go hug someone or tell them you love them!

Are you ready for this?

March 8, 2013

Life is a series of changes.  No matter how much you like where you are currently, or how happy or unhappy you are, remember:  THE ONLY THING YOU CAN BE SURE OF IS CHANGE.

But going back to change, it is important to keep this in mind.  KEEP READY TO BE FLEXIBLE.  It is the same theory as when we stretch our bodies.  If we keep our bodies flexible, then if we step over the creek on a rock that isn’t as big as it looked, we won’t fall in.  We will be able to stretch across it to reach the next step.

No matter WHAT CHANGE comes, you will be able to handle it if you remember we sometimes have to accept some changes we aren’t able to do any about.  Some things in life we can change, but when you reach what

seems to be a block wall, remember you can find your way if you just don’t give in to failure!  Climb over the wall, dig under it, walk around it, drill through it…and if none of those ways resolve the problem, STP – Stop, think, and pray!

Perhaps you are supposed to stay near the wall for a while.  Be willing to be flexible and learn from what is happening.  You ALWAYS have the CHOICE to respond to ANY CIRCUMSTANCE ANY WAY YOU CHOOSE!  That is a freedom in itself.

Keeping that in mind, remember EVERYTHING CHANGES WITH TIME.

This brace is TEMPORARY, but if you’d ask me two months ago if I’d been wearing a brace right now, I would have bet NO!  Life does change!

(Mama told me I could also always be sure of God and love too.  I CONCUR!)  That is a truism we also need to know.

I am sitting behind the rock wall.  STP (Stop-Think-Pray) – I’ve stopped (temporarilyJ).  I am thinking about what is next to come and how I will move onward and upward, and I am praying throughout the day.

What freedom I have!  How wonderful it is to be alive!  I wonder what exciting and challenging circumstance will happen next!

Be optimistic.  It is like using a muscle – optimism gets stronger with use.

Count all the small and big blessings, and find a way.

God bless you, and I sometimes forget, God bless me too!  J

CREATE a beautiful day no matter what.  We have such freedom there!

How’s this for an unexpected turn of events?

February 22, 2013

Woke up this morning and slipped on a warm nightgown as the house felt a bit chilly.  With the discipline of a good soldier, I slipped my back brace tightly around my body, insuring I would not make a move that would further injure me.

I have an appointment with a second neurosurgeon Wednesday, and I can hardly wait!  This not “knowing” is wearing on me a bit.

Anyway, I left my bra off to be more comfortable as I had not planned to go anywhere; also left my slippers off, no makeup, and wild hair.  I must have looked just adorable  (Hey, adorable comes from the inside I hope!)

Suddenly my one hundred and twenty pound Rotteweiler jumped on my sliding glass door.  There was a cat sitting inside my fence looking directly at us.  My dog simply does not like cats at all!

I made her sit and stay, as I was afraid she was going to break the slider and I slipped out on the back porch and shut it.  I picked up a rock and just threw it at the fence to get the cat to move.  It left quickly.

I turned to go back into the house and the door had locked.  In twenty-five years that has never happened.  “Oh no” I thought.  I hoped I had replaced the hidden key by the side of the house.  I

peeked outside the gate and opened it.  Carefully I moved barefooted across the rocks and through the trees near the fireplace.  I found the hidden key. I had replaced it.  Yahoo.

Now all I had to do was move to the front of the house and hope no one saw me.  I peeked through the bushes, made my way carefully over the rocks, and as quickly and casually as I could make it to the front door.  Phew!  “Safe.” I thought.

At that moment the UPS driver parked directly in front of my house.  As quickly as I could turn the key in both locks I jammed inside and slammed the door.

I’d done it.  No one had seen me.  Within a moment the doorbell rang and a cheery voice asked, “Will you sign for this please?”

I grabbed a coat from the coat rack, zipped it, and opened the door casually as if I had no hesitation.   I smiled, signed for the package, and closed and locked the door.

I was breathing a sigh of relief. “Next time” I thought, “ I will at least put on a bra and slippers with my nightie!  “Be prepared at all times.” I thought.   No harm done.

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Here is an idea!

January 17, 2013

In a couple of months I visualize myself in my kayak and sitting amongst all the stars the reflection from the sun on the water create. Beautiful isn’t it?
shining water
Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. Here is an idea!

During this time I am physically limited, I would like you not only to count your blessings, but also put some thanks to them while you are actively doing them! It will be kind of an experiment in recognizing blessings and being grateful for each and every one.

I will enjoy thinking of you (hopefully) pain free, doing these daily tasks.

The following list is what I call a small portion of “temporary difficult or nearly impossible tasks” list:

1. Bend down to tie your shoes, pick up a piece of paper or something you’ve dropped on the floor, or set the dog dish down – just do something that makes you bend…then to yourself, say “thank you for being able to bend without pain!”
2. Lift up something to put somewhere else – a basket of clothing, a sack of groceries, a child-especially a child! You might as well snuggle and love them when they are in your arms…then say, “thank you for” (you get it☺).
3. Sit at your computer and write, pay bills, email, whatever you like. Be thankful it doesn’t hurt and you can come and go quickly and without pillows and back rests and pain…
4. Lie down on your bed and stretch in every direction. Pull your feet towards you. Stretch your arms and your legs out and breathe. Stretching is such a pleasure if you remember to do it as such-and it is good for you! Thank God you can stretch.
5. Go for a walk. Go for a little run (I believe running is very tough on the knees, so take it easy). Skip. Jump. Stretch your arms up for the freedom and the joy of being able to do these things at all! Thank God, and if you don’t believe in God – then thank your lucky stars. It’s bigger than us little humans-that’s for sure. Personally, I have always believed in a Creator – however you see God – thank God.

Lastly in this tiny list, just get on your knees and drop your head and say prayers for whatever you like. Include yourself…for years I forgot to pray for me too! That is important. You are important.

Fortunately, I CAN drop to my knees. I just turn to my side, kind of roll off the bed with bent knees, use the bed to steady myself and guess what? It is accomplished. To get up I just use the bed and don’t have to bend my back. Yeah!

CREATE a beautiful day for you and your family and circle of friends. I will be thinking of you doing all these things. AND DON’T FORGET to laugh. Laughing is healing.

I am trying now, while I have time, to write both my blogs and work on my next little book. Don’t remember if I have mentioned that or not. I am not really got at advertising. I self-published a book entitled “A Fine Read for the Thinking Woman” (it is for men too really) – and you can purchase it at either amazonbooks.com or on kindle books. Just look up the title or my name: Marsha J. O’Brien. I hope you like it I have several more I am working on now.

Also, if you would like to check out my stressmanagementmagic.com website, I post many different articles as I specalized in that for years – maybe that’s why my husband of almost twenty-five years calls me “The Human Happy Face” :).
