PUPPY

August 25, 2015

When I first got our new puppy, at 9 weeks old, our five year old was very jealous. She still may be at times, but she also loves Axel, and worries when he isn’t with us…I know dogs aren’t supposed to think like us, but since I broke my back (and before) I have spent 24/7 with my Dakota and the puppy.  They have wonderful emotions and understanding English too!

Back to the photo.  Axel is now 8 months old and they are inseparable.  This is how the puppy got to Dakota…..I call the photo “Bonding”.  I love this shot of Dakota.  She was never a mommy but she is a tender spirit.bonding

Dog – Pup – Pet – Animal – FRIEND

July 14, 2013

I played with my dog with the hats and such, but now that she is four the play is over (well, that kind of play).  She is rather dignified…trained and such.  She will defend me, but she is a gentle giant with the little ones.  Her first lessons were to be gentle with children and not to even bark at them.

She’s been a real friend and a great dog for four years.  I firmly believe anyone who has a big dog, should be responsible enough to train them.  Also, anyone that has a pet should be respectful enough to carry bags and pick up poop.  For those that allow their cats to wander at night – that might be okay, but they should have a litter box outside so neighbors don’t have to wind up with the bushess in their yards smelling like litter boxes.  It’s just respecting others.

So out of respect for my girl, a few photos to show you a little of her growing from a pup until now.

A few ideas to make your weekend astounding!

August 20, 2010

GO FLY A KITE!

PET A PUPPY. ADOPT A RESCUED DOG.

GO FOR A BICYCLE RIDE – ANY AGE WILL DO.

GO FOR A WALK AND CHECK OUT THE FLOWERS AND FOILAGE.

DO SOMETHING THAT WILL MAKE OTHERS SMILE. (YOU MIGHT EVEN LAUGH YOURSELF!)

HUG SOMEONE YOU LOVE.

SPEND TIME WITH THOSE YOU LOVE AND HAVEN’T SEEN FOR A WHILE…EVEN IF IT’S JUST A DAY OR TWO – GO TO A PARK AND HAVE A PICNIC, PLAY BADMITTEN, DANCE IN YOUR LIVING ROOM AND SING WHEN YOU ARE WALKING DOWN THE STREET. WHY NOT?

CREATE AN ASTOUNDING WEEKEND DOING SOMETHING THAT RESONATES LOVE AND HAPPINESS BETWEEN HUMANS BEINGS – WE CAN CHANGE THE TONE OF THE PLANET BY SMILES, KINDNESS AND SIMPLE GOOD DEEDS FOR ONE ANOTHER. YOU WILL FEEL LOTS BETTER AND SO WILL THEY.

XXXXOOOO ENJOY!

Open your mind to rest and peace and play with your puppy!

May 15, 2010

Look at the variation of flowers spring brings…SLOW DOWN…..don’t hurry because demands are made upon you. You can accomplish all that needs to be done without having a coronary! Just slow your mind by using your oxygen. It works. You may not believe it, but if a guitarist thought practice wouldn’t work to refine his playing, we would have no fine guitarists at all!
Stop to see the infinite beauty of a single flower.Use these moments over the weekend to tell someone you love them, really listen to your children and tickle them, play with your puppy, or smell the roses…none of us know how many moments we have to do these VERY IMPORTANT THINGS!
My puppy, Dakota, at one year, for those of you who have been following her growth. She posed for a portrait and now is practicing to be a flag pup and to go snorkeling! 🙂
Make your own FUN! God bless!

A dog’s purpose and from the mouth of babes

March 24, 2010

A friend sent me this and though I do not know the author, I feel the short story is heart-warming and the reminders are very important for us all. Hope you enjoy!
——————————————
A Dog’s Purpose? (from a 6-year-old).

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker. The dog’s owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer. I told the family we couldn’t do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure. They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker ‘s family surrounded him. Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for the last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on. Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker’s transition without any difficulty or confusion. We sat together for a while after Belker’s Death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.
Shane, who had been listening quietly, piped up, ”I know why.”

Startled, we all turned to him. What came out of his mouth next stunned me. I’d never heard a more comforting explanation. It has changed the way I try and live.

He said,”People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life — like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?” The Six-year-old continued,

”Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”

Live simply.

Love generously.

Care deeply.

Speak kindly.

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.

Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps.

Stretch before rising

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you’re not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.

ENJOY EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY!

Animal Lovers What do You Think?

February 6, 2010

They say a dog looks like it’s owner. What do you think?

I couldn’t help myself…my husband put my sunglasses (a good friend gave me for my birthday) on Dakota, and she actually didn’t seem to mind at all.

“Life is not about waiting for the storms to pass…
it’s about learning to dance in the rain!”

Make each moment fun! It’s your life!

Puppy Photos

November 30, 2009

For those of you who wanted to follow my “puppy progress”, I have this photo showing her the first day she opened her eyes, and at 6 months exactly.
This is my Rottie at 15 days old and on her 6th month birthday.:
She has been a lot of work as I am constantly training with her to be a gentles soul who can be trusted, and also a great friend and watchdog.
We kind of spoil her with love – but she has to earn her way by learning and since she goes in the 4 runner with me everywhere she has to be able to be trusted. She also lives in the house much of the time and she is doing great! So she gets spoiled a bit. I love these two photos.
The first is Dakota just sitting on her pillow. A bit of a chill in the room so I threw her blanket over her.
This next one is my favorite. A pampered puppy watching a dog show on our 61 ” television. Cute, eh?

Today was a lovely day.

November 24, 2009

My husband and I spoke on the phone in the morning and at noon. He’s working out of town and we talk on the phone and use the internet to stay close. It was as if we hadn’t been together for 21 years. It was new and exciting because we are expressing life together.

I played with our “puppy”. She’s just six months and already she’s sixty-eight pounds. I sat in the grass and when I arose my bottom was soaking wet! It was great. It cooled my system right down in the fast approach of the winter season, day by day.

Dakota was bouncing off the walls; kind of like myself most of the time. She nuzzled my face and almost sat in my lap. She fell off and rolled over with her legs sticking straight up and started to snore. That’s the puppy!

I left all the worries I can’t resolve inside, aside for a bit. I enjoyed
living today.

When I hand watered some plants I stepped into the sun and could immediately visualize my entire body warming all at once, instead of increments.

I realized again, I didn’t have to be poured into anybody’s mold but my own – no matter what the circumstances.

Green leaves, geese using the roadway, a different and unique person at every corner. I took a breath and swept, and then took the trashcans out to the front. I just may call my husband to tell him I love him.

Look closely. Look around you. You are free to love and laugh and survive happily. For each wound in life you have strengthened in character, your Spirit, and your capacity to love, and even free to be happy in the hardest of times.

Don’t forget this. Life will squeeze in on you. Take a breath and expand your life with joy. I am working on doing the very same thing EACH DAY I am privileged to wake up in the morning!

You’ve gotta love this guy!

October 6, 2009

big-dog

This love weighs 160 pounds and is two years old. His owner is 78 and a really nice old guy that stopped at my garage sale. I just had to snap his photo. Funny thing was, and I am not being mean, they both had “problem” teeth.

I worked for three or four days getting ready for a garage sale and then one hour after putting my signs out I decided I didn’t want to have garage sales any more! I made $10.00, packed up the stuff and gave it to a neighbor who makes his living (WWII vet) by having yard sales.

I don’t know what clicked in my brain but after years of having fun and profitable garage sales, I just am through! Was good then….isn’t now, I guess.

Hope all is well with you and the world. I am writing on a website (several other blogs too) now, so that has become one of my passions. Also – the weather is absolutely perfect. A week ago it was 115 and today it was 73. Yahoo! Finally the cool-down.
I am going to kayak with my girlfriend on Thursday and it should be a beautiful fall day-temperatures are now ranging between 73 and 86…perfecto!

ENJOY YOUR LIFE! Moment by moment…because I am telling you the truth before you know it you will be one of those aging people you look at now and (I hope not) – ridicule. They are all of us in the future. Be kind! 🙂

And such is life!

August 22, 2009

We have tragedies and triumphs. I shed tears for the past. Have forgiven myself. Realize that I actually did many things right – and many superior! That was then. This is now. I am “in the now” and therefore, in the KNOW! I know life flies by and we only have the current moment to live, moment by moment. We have to
rise above all circumstances, painful though they may be. We have to learn lessons from our mistakes, and those injuries (mentally and physically) that are bestowed upon us.

If there is one thing that will help your life, it is remembering that this is “the time of your life!” Make it the time of your lives by melding fine intellect with emotion and when the scales tip too far to one side, flip to the other side and find the balance. We are creatures of balance and if we do this balancing act – not “perceiving” what others are thinking, we will begin to see positive changes. We can perceive what others think SIMPLY because we don’t really know-and our own insecurities lead us to think in negatives, and the more negatively you think, the worse you life becomes.

Take a breath and stay positive. It make take practice changing your HABITS, but it will be so worthwhile to you and all around you in your circle of life.

Indulge in a good life. Indulge in love and peace. You can find it if you THINK you can!
